I'll go first.

Even though I understand WHY he did it....

Newly inaugurated President Obama SHOULD HAVE VETOED that first bill that had "earmarks" in it!!!!

It would have been a strong message that:
  • there is a new sheriff in town
that he was serious about "changing Washington" (about the dumbest expression out there)
he was willing to face down his own Dem Congressional leadership

OK, y'all, before (or while) you tell me how & why I am wrong, PLEASE offer your 'candidate' for the "biggest mistake" President Obama has made.

NOTE to hilander, y04 & OS: Feel free to respond in the thread I directed to you BEFORE you post in this thread.

66, I actually have two:

  • Him publically displaying his birth certificate. The birthers didn't even give it a quick glance before they called it fake.

His so-far unfulfilled promise to close Gitmo.

- Not closing GITMO
- Extending the Bush tax cuts
- Extending the Patriot Act
- Signing NDAA
- Obama prevailed upon the Environmental Protection Agency to pull back anti-smog legislation as part of the Clean Air Act.
- Like the Bush administration, the Obama administration has successfully pushed for immunity for companies that assist in warrantless surveillance of citizens, blocking the ability of citizens to challenge the violation of privacy.
- The Obama administration has successfully defended its claim that it can use GPS devices to monitor every move of targeted citizens without securing any court order or review.
- The world clamored for prosecutions of those responsible for waterboarding terrorism suspects during the Bush administration, but the Obama administration said in 2009 that it would not allow CIA employees to be investigated or prosecuted for such actions.

Biggest mistake is assuming that the GOP side of the legislature was going to work with him on key legislation.

1. NOT AGGRESSIVELY ENOUGH STATING THE SPECIFIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF HIS ADMINISTRATION (UNTIL RECENTLY).

2. TYPICALLY, NOT RESPONDING QUICKLY ENOUGH TO FALSE OR MISREPRESENTATION OF ACTIONS OF HIS ADMINISTRATION.

Thank you, y'all!

Very interesting.

Any more mistakes?

I am sure that we don't agree with each on some of these issues.

Do y'all want to explore areas of disagreement?

Agreed

And let me add, Devin is on point with his list too...

Getting a health care bill passed that only democrats would vote for.

The stimulus bill.

Solyndra

The Czars.

He's also done a few good things.

Keeping Gitmo open.  He realized after getting sworn in and getting all of the information he knew he had to keep the base open.

Extending the Bush Tax Cuts.  That was not the time to raise taxes.

Extending the Patriot Act.
