"The SWAC Sound"...

So I was just talking to a friend about the sound of our conference.  I just wanted to post a few clips of our bands which prove that we don't all "over-blow" and have a "out of control" sound:

Everything that is underlined is referring to SWAC bands (it was not directly stated but get some inference skills)....What is a Pronoun ?.....but I digress

Que, the mentality in the band world is that all of our programs in the SWAC over-blow, have bad intonation, and poor musicianship.  This is not the case at all.  I will post some AAMU clips, too.

You don't have to post any, that really wasn't my point.  I go to the MCC every year and experience it from  AAMU and Bama State.    However, IMHO, they didn't over blow this homecoming on most songs.  It sounded like they had more woodwinds than normal.

Understandable.  Honestly, I don't have a problem with our conference sound.  It is unique and our's.  I don't want the SWAC or any other HBCU band to conform to anything considered to be "the norm".  This is our craft.  The things that we have done have been mimicked by so many programs across the nation so we must be doing something right.

Name me a MEAC band, besides NCCU, that doesn't "blow hard".

Its really not just a SWAC thing.  Most bands in the deep south are larger and louder than the average east coast band.  Clemson and Florida State have a totally different vibe than the rest of the ACC.
