http://www.NCCUEaglePride.com) – In an effort to pay tribute to the brave men and women who have served in the U.S. military, both past and present, the North Carolina Central University Department of Athletics is offering
a $5 discount on football game tickets for the NCCU contest against rival Winston-Salem State University on Saturday, Sept. 11 at O’Kelly-Riddick Stadium in Durham.
U.S. veterans and active military personnel may present military I.D. or other proof of U.S. military service at stadium ticket booths to receive the special ticket discount.In addition to recognizing the U.S. military at Saturday’s NCCU football game, there will be a pre-game moment of silence in memory of those who lost their lives during the Sept. 11 attacks in 2001.
Among the nearly 3,000 lives lost as a result of the attacks was 1983 NCCU graduate Harry Glenn, who was working on the 97th floor of Tower One in the World Trade Center.Saturday’s kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m., but stadium gates open at 4 p.m. for pre-game festivities inside E-Town, sponsored by Dayeco Construction, featuring inflatable games, a bounce house, a trackless train and other youth activities coordinated by the YMCA and the NCCU Parks and Recreation Department. There will also be a host of food and merchandise vendors. Rides and activities are free with access to E-Town requiring a game ticket.
The theme for Saturday’s football event is
“NCCUnity Day,” celebrating unity in the Durham community. To celebrate the occasion, Durham County Sheriff Worth Hill, Durham Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Eric Becoats and Durham Fire Department Chief Bruce Pagan will take part in the pre-game coin toss as honorary captains.
