DURHAM, N.C. (http://www.NCCUEaglePride.com) – In an effort to pay tribute to the brave men and women who have served in the U.S. military, both past and present, the North Carolina Central University Department of Athletics is offering a $5 discount on football game tickets for the NCCU contest against rival Winston-Salem State University on Saturday, Sept. 11 at O’Kelly-Riddick Stadium in Durham.

U.S. veterans and active military personnel may present military I.D. or other proof of U.S. military service at stadium ticket booths to receive the special ticket discount.

In addition to recognizing the U.S. military at Saturday’s NCCU football game, there will be a pre-game moment of silence in memory of those who lost their lives during the Sept. 11 attacks in 2001. Among the nearly 3,000 lives lost as a result of the attacks was 1983 NCCU graduate Harry Glenn, who was working on the 97th floor of Tower One in the World Trade Center.

Saturday’s kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m., but stadium gates open at 4 p.m. for pre-game festivities inside E-Town, sponsored by Dayeco Construction, featuring inflatable games, a bounce house, a trackless train and other youth activities coordinated by the YMCA and the NCCU Parks and Recreation Department. There will also be a host of food and merchandise vendors. Rides and activities are free with access to E-Town requiring a game ticket.

The theme for Saturday’s football event is “NCCUnity Day,” celebrating unity in the Durham community. To celebrate the occasion, Durham County Sheriff Worth Hill, Durham Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Eric Becoats and Durham Fire Department Chief Bruce Pagan will take part in the pre-game coin toss as honorary captains.

For more information, visit http://www.NCCUEaglePride.com or call the NCCU Ticket Office at (919) 530-5170.

Don't forget secret GOP strategy meetings sponsored by Koch bros: attendees included Congressmen, Governors, CEOs, National Chamber of Congress, and two Supreme Court Judges; all united to put GOP back in power. Could SC Judges be bought? smh

$5 off yaw can do better than that!  I've always said that Fayetteville State should cater more to the FT Bragg Military but we don't.  We get about 5 military member at every game for $12 tickets, that's $60 total from Military, but if you take 500 $5 tickets over to Bragg and sell them all that's $2500; heck it's not like they are coming any way so if you don't give them incentive then they ain't coming if you give them incentive that gets them there and they would be for active military and their families, especially for the non-homecoming or classic type games.  If you always do what you always done then you always get what you've always got, which is $60 of military money and empty stands.  7,000 african american military members at Bragg and their families. shrug

If they don't go to FSU games, what makes one think they would drive 80 miles to come to ours.?  Maybe the National Guard in the area.
