I am an avid person of HBCUs, especially FVSU, and it's a shame that Morris Brown are still in the predicament that they are in. Yes, I am a proud of The Fort Valley State University; however, Morris Brown was an impressive HBCU. They had a/an entertaining band and was noted as a scholar college. We, the HBCUs, share a common goal of understanding and love for their institution unlike any other colleges or universities. We, need to come together to help our fellow college, and when I say we, I mean pro-athletes, entertainers, other universities and/or colleges. I know that some entertainers have helped. However, is still (I guess) a large amount of work that needs to be done. Lets not forget about them, because one day it may be us in that same situation. We don't know all the facts and never will. Lets not focus on why they are in this situation but what can we do to help them get out of this situation. Help is the key not do it for them, but help them.

I agree with you 100%...I too have a love for ALL HBCU’s, particularly Albany State University. Though it does sadden me to see Morris Brown in such a terrible and tragic situation. I see the school everyday on my way to work and it reminds me of the days when the campus was alive with students & staff, plots were freshly painted and of course the Marching Wolverines along with the very beautiful & appropriately named “Bubblin Brown Sugar” were alive and well. Moreover, it takes me back to the day when I was a young boy from the country trying my first attempt at college; MBC. (Lets just say I failed, city life and being away from home got the best of me, lol – I thought I’d get a better education on the steps of Middleton Complex instead of in class)
I digress…after the nostalgia fades I see the crumbing Fountain Hall, broken windows in Middleton Towers and Herndon Stadium desolate and deserted. Yes, I’ve sent money, the Methodist Church sends money and yes I wonder why the AUC itself doesn’t feel a loss. I guess it like after an amputation, it feels like its still there but in actuality its not; so you forget about it. I'd hope the alumni are coming together and trying to do something for their beloved school.
I said all of that to say, I sincerely hope and pray that someday Morris Brown College will return. Not because of the “band” but because it was a part of our lives and community. And, maybe I’m being presumptuous but I think we should be proud, regardless of the school we attended, that its open and educating our youth. It was (along with all HBCU’s) founded to educate and improve the lives of blacks in the days when we were not suppose to read, write and learn. Now we can do those things and even “over-come” still many of us won’t look back no less, drop a dime for help. I often wonder how a situation like this would have played out had this been a PWC?
Thankfully I did go back and get a lil’ ed-ju-ma-kation from Albany State, lol…and I love everything ASU!! But on the other side of the coin, I share a love for Morris Brown and I’d love to see the clock on Fountain Hall ticking once again; if it takes a village to raise a child then why can’t our village come together and revive our school? Oh yeah…Al-bany State, we dearly love you!!

P.S. FVSU…luv 4 u too!  hugs

let it go.  sell the property to the other hbcus in atlanta and be done with it.  after all this time nobody is going to waste money on morris brown.  if the powers that be really cared for the school they wouldn't be in this situation today.

I agree and the grammar usage is horrendous.  no Please tone it down a notch and type slowly, other than that your point is well taken.

If the college is to be resurrected, it up to alumni and others who have love for Morris Brown to do it. The rest of us are trying to keep our own little leaky HBCU boats from sinking.
