Anyone notice that whenever there is a "Black" newstory the MSM (Mainstream Media) trots out the same group of Negro talking heads. but where is our news source?

Ebony and JET are on life support. BET got in bed with the record industry and is still turning tricks. Essence stopped being relevent in the late 90's.

I would say Tom Joyner and the cookie cutter radio syndication shows. But remember radio wants you to buy something first . Social uplift or informing is a distant second.

The Black  prtess outside of one or two instances reprint AP stories and lack a daily presence.

Thoughts?

Even though the syndicated radio shows do bring issues of importance to the Black community to the forefront, they still aren't very objective in their reporting.  Even when they do have important people on, they tend to ridicule folks if they have a viewpoint that's not in line with the traditional Black viewpoint.

do you actually read Ebony and JET; if so tell me what "news" you get from them?

Essence stopped being relevent in the late 90's, the other two stopped being revelant in the '70's.

BET is for kids and anyone else with less that 5 brain cells

All three of you guys are correct.

I DO listen to a lot of satellite radio... Sirius in particular.

Mark Thompson does a pretty good job about 3 days a week covering relevent issues, though since the Sirius XM merger and his forced reorganization (producers and staff changes) and move from D.C. to N.Y.C. he has DRASTICALLY cut back on his impact reporting.

He used to cover news of interest to the black community for at LEAST an hour of EVERY SHOW. Now he does it 2 or 3 times a week. Several of his regular features and guests are gone too.
Still, if you want current news of National importance to the Black community or National News from the black perspective, Make It Plain is the place to hear it.

If ANY of you have Sirius radio or internet service, then I STRONGLY suggest Make It Plain with Mark Thompson, weekdays at 5:00-8:00pm Eastern.
