SERIOUSLY...

They won't be blown down. But the  electricity WILL go off and even those with generators will loose power in 12-24 hours.

And let's not mention the server crashes that will occur as the system is overloaded by cell phone traffic before, during and after the storm.  Wink

We "in-landers" are hoping the storm continues to track eastward, just grazing the NC outer banks.  I hope I NEVER have to deal with another hurricane, after Fran back in '95 or '96.  By the time it hit Durham it was a minimal hurricane.  I can't even imagine winds over 100+ for any sustained period of time.

We didn't have electricity for 2 weeks, tree was leaning on the house, minor water damage, loss all the food except canned items and what we managed to cook on the grill for a day or two.

But the telephone never died.  Smiley

So since y'all "veteran storm" people.  Do you evacuate when told or do you ride it out?

Depends.

The small county where I worked for many years had a mandatory evacuation for Cat I storms. It was low lying coastal and 100% of it was within the 100 year flood plain.

Where I live on the northeast side of Tallahassee I'm not in a flood plain. We've had no problems riding out Cat I or II storms.

Anything above a Cat III you leave. Cat III storms KILL. Besides; the lights and water will be gone for at least a week so why stay?

After Katrina don't worry about me evacuating. I will be OUT.  Seriously, I'm keeping my eye on Earl. Wink
