Yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!!!! clap clap

I love soccer and the World Cup is off the chart. It's really too bad that a lot of us turn our snoots up at soccer. It is a great game and it really does take skill and stamina to play it... nod

Just five months after reaching the round of 16 in the 2010 World Cup held in South Africa, the US National Team will be returning to the country that hosted their thrilling, heart-stopping displays.

Bob Bradley & Co. will play South Africa’s national team on Nov. 17 at Green Point Stadium in Cape Town as part of the Nelson Mandela Challenge Cup. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN2 and Galavisión at a time yet to be determined.

“We are honored to once again be invited to participate in the Nelson Mandela Challenge Cup,” said Bradley in a statement. “The experiences in South Africa the past three years were a critical component of our team preparations for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, and we will use this opportunity as part of the process of building for the next four year cycle.”

Fans will recall Green Point Stadium as the venue that housed Germany's 4-0 bashing of Argentina in the World Cup quarterfinals, and the exciting semifinal match between Netherlands (3) and Uruguay (2).

The match, the US’ 11th on South African soil, will mark the Yanks’ second participation in the Nelson Mandela Challenge. The Americans defeated the Bafana Bafana three years ago with a long-range goal from Steve Cherundolo.

The two sides also met in Washington D.C. on June 3, 2000, with Cobi Jones leading the US’ 4-0 victory with a brace

Rookies Agudelo, Bunbury and Ream get US calls

Trio among nine MLSers to travel to South Africa for friendly

With most of his first-teamers busy with European club duty or Major League Soccer playoffs, Bob Bradley was expected to call a young group of players to compete against South Africa in a friendly on Nov. 17 in Cape Town (2 p.m. ET, ESPN2/Galavision)

Bradley, known for his unpredictable selections, surprised again, calling an even less experienced collection than anticipated.

Six players, including New York Red Bulls' Tim Ream and Juan Agudelo and Kansas City Wizards Teal Bunbury, will have a chance to earn their first cap.

Pool to gather on Jan. 4 ahead of friendly vs. Chile on Jan. 22

US national team’s January camp will have a decidedly MLS-heavy look.

Twenty MLSers were named to the 24-man roster called up by Bob Bradley, including New York Red Bulls striker Juan Agudelo, San Jose forward Chris Wondolowski, and Sporting KC’s Teal Bunbury, in preparation for a friendly against Chile on January 22 at The Home Depot Center.

The roster is young, with an average age just over 23. Half of the players have a chance to debut for the national team, and no player has more than four caps.

“The timing is right to assess many of the younger players and to broaden the player pool as we look forward to the next three years,” Bradley said in a statement. “These extended camps give the coaching staff an opportunity to work with these players closely, and at the same time expose them to what the environment and expectations are like at the international level.”

I'm still mad with the USA not getting the 2022 World Cup.  Total BS.  We would have totally rocked with hosting it.  And to have it in Qutar of all places where the Lows are like 100 degrees F with their promises of an open air stadium that is air contition and is all super green as well?  The only green thing about is all the money that FIFA got in bribes to have it there.  Sorry, but if you want AC, you might as well put a roof on the things.

You hosted it in 94...and I remember it being a disaster

As an england fan my team didnt qualify, but if they did I am sure I would have had to travel thousands of miles from california to texas, to detroit like Brazilian and Argentine fans.

Let the rest of the world host. Doha will be amazing three African teams being the home nation of the world cup in a 12 year period(South Africa, Brazil, and Qatar) nod
