I was kind of shocked when he told me that. he told me that he would not let his daughter play in high school because over half of the team was gay. and he also told me that his daughter told him the same thing. So, would you not let your kid play because of that??

We have worn  this subject to death on many times. They are not going to get on a Spaceship and fly away folks.  And we can't stop them from playing because you will run into lawsuits. So all he can tell his daughter is to report any inappropriate actions if she is approached in an unkindly way. But we have seen many articles where they are playing in Professional sports and have seen a few Athletes come out and say that they are Gay. But that's their preference and their way of life but you do have the right to tell them when they approach you that you are not interested in engaging in  that type of act with them but that you do respect them as a team member when it's time to play your respected sport to win. The Coach did recruit them and only they have the right let them play or not if that person becomes a problem for that team. nod I hope that I clarified this situation and hope that this doesn't turn into a 25 page plus post over something that we have no control over. Before I wrote this post I asked God to give me some pleasant words to say on this situation. nod

I know someone who has a new born daughter and vowed to try to keep his child from playing because of that (what he perceives as rather) issue.

There are some things we have little control over and human sexuality is one of them. If a child wants to get with someone of the same sex, they are going to do it. If you don't like it, they will become dysfunctional and go down low for it. I don't get why folk think they can influence such matters? Granted environment can influence development and cause some to become confused, but environment can't change DNA. Confused people will eventually work things out on their own. And Bear, a unwanted lesbian advance would be the least of my worries for my daughter on a team, it would be that of a male coach.   nod Hopefully she can hold her own against another female; males are a tad more difficult for women.

I think it's dysfunctional to be a homosexual or lesbian anyway.

regardless what the % is, what does that have to do with the way they play the game anyway?  amazing how we let some goofy unrealistic stereotypes bias reality.  so what if it is 99.995%, will it rub off on someone?  i doubt it.....that's the same ill-logic whites had back in the day when they would drain the freaking swimming pools after a Black or Jewish person swam in it.  brickwall

I really think Plymouth Rock landed on us sometimes.....

..so his daughter can catch it from playing basketball?
if his daughter IS gay there is nothing he can do about it but not act like a fool when he finds out.

Thank you EP... nod Being gay/lesbian is not a disease you catch like the flu...if his daughter's inclinations don't swing that way, he has nothing to be concerned about. Truth be told, she probably has shown him something which is why he is so hot to keep her from playing on a team. If her inclinations do swing that way, keeping her off the team is not going to stop her... no

Well, that's it then.  No more wasted evenings hanging around the WNBA locker rooms trying to be a groupie.  And all this time I thought it was me...
