Capler, it kills me how they define - successful. If you dig a little dipper, they are just chicks with jobs just like everybody else. But they are forever claiming men are so intimidated by their success. Hell, I am a professional working man just like the rest of the working force.

Its more of the same ole venting crap you always hear. I guarantee you there will be 1000+ women breaking their necks to get in to this program and maybe no more than 3 or 4 guys at the most.  Seriously, why would some brother even bother coming to this attempting to offer any type of insight?

Steve and Hill, I understand, they have an image to maintain which helps keep them marketable among their core audience - pissed off desperate women.

Women that are good marriage material don't have a problem getting married.

The problem is women who think they are "good marriage material" aren't always that. Their degrees, incomes and lifestyles doesn't mean they don't need to look in the mirror to see the problem might not be the man...but, it might just be them.

There are plenty of weddings going on all the time, ...younger women to men their age, older women to men their age and younger women to older men and even older women to younger men.

The key is "good marriage material" doesn't only come from the views of the women, it comes also from views of the men.

Soulman, when it comes to our community the scale is different. Sadly success for us is at a very low level; having graduated from high school, have a steady job, having your own place, being in the home and being able to stay out of jail. Those are indeed noble accomplishments but they should not require that much effort. It suggests a large number of us are barely functioning.

Maybe Dr. Cap da Shaw Bear should be on the panel. They need an ole country deprived male view of "How Black Folk love".

Capler, thats just my point.  These crazy creatures will define themselves as successful. Not to take away from what they have achieved, but they just have jobs, careers just like everyone else. Yet they will look their noses down brothers doing the same or what they perceive as someone not on their level.      And when you dig a little deeper and find out why some of these same women overlook the men that they do, you realize, he could be Jesus Christ almighty and they still will overlook him. 

Nova, you're absolutely right. I know 3 brothers who just got married one as recent as Christmas so all this foolishness about "I CAN'T FIND NO MAN" is just that cause guess what somebody is finding them and it ain't just white women its plenty of sisters finding their husbands out here.

I always recognize 2 things that most people fail to realize.

1) Not everyone will be married

2) Not everyone wants to be married

3) some will marry and marry and marry again

4) some men and women need to stay single forever.

Why are Black women the only race highlighted in this manner? Heck I know Hispanic, white and Asian women crying the same thing but we have developed a cottage in this sort of thing.

This so called "Panel" is all about marketing. ABC is gladly hosting this because it has gotten wind that there is an eager, in place legion of woman ready to tune in for this farce, which equals ratings. Steve Harvey is glad to host it because it will for him translate into more sales of his book on relationships geared towards black women. The brother has been married 3 Times, why would anyone look at him as a credible source?
Anyone find it ironic that he just announced that he has launched his own internet dating site....think that'll get mentioned tonight?
Hill Harper has a not so transparent agenda to promote by participating in this panel also, he just happens to have out a book that talks about how black men and women can find meaningful relationships....this coming from an unmarried brother, who is secretive about his own love life. Come on y'all, don't drink the Kool aid.
