To be honest I wasn't in favor of Barlow becoming the Head  Coach back then because of the lack of his experience but I got use to him and granted him a chance to turn the program around but now I really believe its time to go with someone else. And this time it should be with a proven winner in the Head Coaching arena. I know that we are in the middle of the NCAA probation but dog gone it Barlow let's tighten up patience can only go so far before they decide to cut ties with you.  As a ASU Hornet football fan I am tired of seeing these just enough to get by seasons. Now granted we havn't won a SWAC Football title since 2004 but that should have been a foundation to build on to where we should have had at least two more football titles after that. It's not hard to win your division or the SWAC. It just boils down to who wants it the most. It's ashame  that last season we had to struggle to beat teams like Concordia College(Selma) and Savannah St. Now FAMU I can understand the lost but that should  have been the only non-conference lost and as for the Magic City Classic and the Homecoming game you know as the Turkey Day Classic is no reason for losing. If you can't beat your rival teams then you should just go out of business and just discontinue the sport.  I'm not downing the program but I'm just fed up and tired of seeing the Hornets football team go out like that. They can't blame Joe Reed this time but I need the ASU Administration to take more notice of the situation.  nod

Milesbear 1,  it's not the team that wants it the most who wins the SWAC.  That's a part of it, the major part is a coaching staff that has a clear offensive, defensive and special teams plan.  Coaches who know what the're doing.  A scheme where you know how to line your players up and attack the opponents weaknesses along with the athletes to carry out that plan.  WAKE UP.

Unfortunately, certain individuals within the ASU Administration who were responsible for Reggie Barlow becoming HC are in trouble for sexual, gender harrassment, & racial discrimination lawsuits.  Replacing Reggie Barlow is not a priority right now.  There is a post on the General Discussion forum about the lawsuits.

Man,,,,,I feel your pain. I took my band to Jackson State's homecoming to see JSU's band back in November. And I got a chance to see Alabama State playing football. I got to say that it was the worst football game I think I ever saw. Watching Alabama State play football was very painful, and Jackson State was really not much better. It reminded me of the Gillus years when we would go 1-11. Kinda like listening to a song in the wrong key. You know it's the song, and you wanna sing it, but for some odd reason, it just wouldn't click for you. So, I understand your pain totally. nod

I agree Tiger, Bama State's problem extend way pass the football team. It seems like every few months a new blackeye pops up for ole Bama State.

LC Cole and Charles Coe kept the program in decent order during their terms as Head Coach. Out of the two of them only Coe walked out with a SWAC Title in 2004. I just want to see the team do well this season and increase the winning percentage. We have went from the top of the East div. to the dead last in the East Div. Branj2 mentioned about pain well it puts pain in my heart to see ASU in this situation year in and year out. All the rest of the sports at ASU seems to be doing fine. Even the Men's Basketball team got a recent SWAC Title and the Womens team is pretty good I think those teams coached by the Jacksons have done well and their winning percentage is at least above water. nod lol We seem to be doing well in indoor track and Field having just won a recent SWAC Title. So ASU is not a bad school it's just run by the wrong folks who just don't give a rat's behind and that burns me up. nod

As long as Barlow is their coach, ASU will never have a winning program there under his leadership. his asst coaches talk bad about him all the time. I know this first hand because i have heard them talk about him my self. But when you got Elton Dean, John Knight and Judge Marvin Wiggins running the show, that's the results you will get... three looseing season in a row, and the worst looking Bama State team I saw thanksgiveing ever, and I mean ever. but Skegee had a lot to do with that........ I know. but they just looked awful. as much as I hate them, I almost felt sorry for them..............but I didn't. I said almost.

TJ it's pathetic and brings tears to my eyes when I watched them play lastyear at the Magic City Classic and we won't get on the TDC. Ok Barlow I'm giving you another chance but that's it just one. After that  if things don't get better I am going to lock myself up in the Hornet Hive and never show my face again. Cry  no  Hopefully with the addition of Offense Guru Melvin Spears will bring us some cloud clearance on the Offense side of the Ball. We have always had a good sound Defense. But my prayers is that ASU will have a good year this fall with the winning percentage. Of course this will be Spears first year preparing for Tuskegee redstone arsenal but it will be interesting to see how he prepare to tear down the Tuskegee Berlin Wall. nod lol lol
