We give some $$$ and give it to a deserving SIAC,CIAA or MEAC student athlete with a 3.5 or higher.

Would gpa be the only criteria? What about SWAC athletes?

I think this is a good idea and I will contribute but we'd need to let Webmaster be in charge of the $$$...not that I don't trust y'all but since it would be the "Onnidan Student Athlete Scholarship", it would seem that Webmaster should receive $$ and present  on our behalf... nod

I'm in...but I'll say what Lil Miss Diplomacy wouldn't....OW must be in control of the $$ cause I don't trust some, nope, most of yall no further than I can smell yall.....

would the criteria also seek those involved in activities outside of the sporting arena?

Great idea. Earlier this year on BDV.com we raised $4,000 to pay for the summer school tuition of one of the Aggie basketball players.

The first thing I think we need to do is have a fundraiser to donate for the operation of this message board.

This is a great idea, if you view the world through altruistic lenses.  Human nature tells me that eventually, people are going to want to know when an athlete from their own school will be selected.  Then comes the battle to get on the board that awards the scholarships.  Then OW would have to keep up with the money, etc, etc, etc.

I'm definitely down with all the members of O'dan we could probably give it to a couple of student-athletes!  My thing though would be this, if a student athlete has a 3.5 then he or she probably has an academic scholarship already but I guess it's not guaranteed.  Real good idea though.

You must only be planning to give a book scholarship.  We can have bi-weekly parties like the college kids do now.  Make $500 profits per party.  You can sell fish or BBQ dinners outside the party though. .

We would be willing to help administer this effort, however we would like to have a committee help select the students who would receive the award.

We would like to suggest five student-athlete awardees, one from each HBCU conference and one from the independent and NAIA schools.

Nominations are now open for the selection committee.
