Question: How Should Coach Rison Be Evaluated at NCCU?
He Is Doing A Good Job With What He Has To Work With
He Should Be Given Only One More Year To Prove His D-I (FCS) Coaching Ability
He Should Continue The Rest of His Current Contract (2 years) To Prove His D-I (FCS) Coaching Ability
He Should Be Dismissed At the End of The Current Football Season
I Do Not Care One Way or The Other

OK NCCU Eagle Fans - What Do You Really Think Regarding The Football Program?

How Should Coach Rison Be Evaluated at NCCU?

What are your ideas, if any are needed, to help fix the NCCU Football Program?

Have "Eagle" Fans really been as supportive and patient as possible with Coach Rison's progress, as they should have been, regarding his meeting expectations, at this point and time, regarding NCCU's Division I (FCS) 5 year Transition?

I'd give him at least another year.  As our scholarship numbers increase, we can really see what he can do.  Several games were lost because our defense ran out of gas.  AND he needs to let the OC do his job. . .

Besides I don't have the money to pay him off.

I have to agree w/ WileE.  If I could buy him out I would.  Otherwise, plan on hiring another HC at the end of his contract.

No. Too many Eagle Fans are stuck in 2006 and didn't want Rison to start with.

I was all for hiring Rison, as I thought that continuity would be a great thing.  Unfortunately, he made the decision to bring in his own staff, instead of retaining some of the previous staff.  Now his staff must perform next year.

2010 will make 5 years that Rison will have been at NCCU. 1 year as OC and 4 as HC.

I don't know who we are playing yet, if we play a schedule close to this year then I want to see at least 6-7 wins.

If we play another cash for clunkers then we get what we get

I do believe funding and support plays a great part in the success of a program, but there is always the human elment and time. ie... there are D1 programs that have everything at their finger tips and still can get over .500 season.

let me get back to work and drink my kool aid  Grin

Surely you jest.  No one is stuck in 2006.  We just expect better.  Rison has more resourse than any coach in the history of the institution.  He has more schollies.  He has turf.  Jumbotrom.  Fan support.  Fans with patience.  The AD had to make him hire an offensive coordinator.  Even with that he lost no position coaches.  Money is going into the program.

Hell he returned 18 starters.  Fans will accept the loses to Duke, Appy and Liberity and even Hampton.  The other games were winnable.  Folks will even accept the Aggies lose but the others. Come on now.  Those who invest in the program expect better.  No the same problems and silly mistakes that we have witnessed for the past three years.

A friend at work told me a along time ago everyone needs a Rabbi in the work place, someone that can guide and protect you in the rough days.

Rison’s major Rabbis have departed to FAMU and now WSSU.

I’m a fence guy at this point. But the wind is blowing real hard this year for me this year to understand if we don’t keep him one more year.  I also can understand if we do keep him one more year.

A good question is what is NCCU football 5 and 10 year plan?

Here are some goals that I think should be on the plan no particular order:

85 % or better graduation rate of our student athletes
Funded for a complete 63 scholarship
Winning 7 to 9 games every season
Increasing attendance numbers at all home football games
Increase donor support to the football program
Winning the MEAC
Getting into the D1AA playoffs and winning some games
New stadium which include sport complex for training
1 or 2 TV games a year
BEAT A&T like that stole something every year
BEAT PWC’s like that stole something every year

Aim for the Stars you will a least get pass the moon.

I vote to give him another chance to prove himself. What other Coach you think would be a good fit for the Soaring Eagles?

Please Don't get me wrong. I  am not saying nor suggesting that NCCU should consider making a Head Football Coaching Change for this year or next year. However, if the powers that be at NCCU believed that the Football Program needed a complete evaluation, and needed to be directed into another direction, I would bet that one or more of the following names below would be invited to apply, if needed:

Darrell Asbury already knows the NCCU Administrative System and what would be expected at NCCU. Robert Massey will always be an NCCU Alum Favorite.

But, if one were to ask most of the NCCU Football Fans who they would really want back at NCCU, in a heartbeat on His Terms this time,  it would be Coach Rod Broadway !!!!! He has always been the most perfect fit for NCCU and the Triangle NC Community.  He knows how to get the community involved and very excited about NCCU Football.  He is a proven winner at the Division I (FCS) level.

Coach Broadway also knows how to correctly MANAGE his Coaching Staff and how to appropriately evaulate the type of players needed, that best fit his Football Coaching System, who are FAST, IN SHAPE at PROPER PLAYING WEIGHT for their overall Body MASS, and very good STUDENT Athletes, first.

Plus, Coach Broadway will fight for the best benefit and well-being of his assistant Coaches. He would want stability for his staff, so he could build a complete Football Program.

Just my personal view and wishful thinking. There is NOTHING official at all, from what I just wrote in this post.

Take care!
