^^and WSSU has never traveled up to Hampton either.

maybe i should reword that.  Last season, they didnt travel much.  They skipped Howard, Davis, BCU, and NSU. And half the home games had no opponents.  No DSU, FAMU, or Hampton.

Im sure that Winston will continue to grow in the CIAA.  Dr. Harold Haughton (former legendary JSU band director) kept an awesome program at Virginia State from 1984-2004.  WSSU will have some great competitive battles against Shaw, Johnson C. Smith, VSU, and possibly Bowie.

Like I said before....

They didn't go to NSU because NSU didn't return a trip after WSSU went twice in a row.

UC Davis a non HBCU, they are NOT going to Cali and I'm sure no HBCU would have sent their band there.

BCU nobody went to last year, and MEAC bands rarely go to BCU. When was the last time A&T, Howard, Hampton, Norfolk went to BCU...Huh? exactly...

WSSU will travel to you if you return the trip, they fought to go to BCU, but look at the economy. BCU usually only gets visits from SCSU, same as FAMU....and WSSU has made the FAMU trip TWICE!!!....Which is a rarity.

If WSSU maintains, honestly the only competition is VSU..

Shaw sounded absolutely horrible last year, don't know what happened.
JCSU needs more size...
Bowie...are you kidding?

Forgive me for I have been out of the CIAA loop for some time now.  Shaw may have had 1 bad season last season but they have a very consistently quality program since 2003.  Dont sleep on JCSU because of their size.  A&T made their swag, success and mystic off their size.  You should have seen that '96 A&T, especially those FAMU and Aggie-Eagle games that year.  Whats up with ECSU and FSU these days?

That was because WSSUguy or his boy Reaves said, "The band is not going to travel because it doesn't help with recruiting."    Roll Eyes

^not surprised.

'09 version was the best WSSU band that I can remember.  It will be interesting to see what they workin with this year since the MEAC is out.

I apprecaite and applaud Dr. Magruder's work with WSSU's Band.  The growth has been awesome, the sound quality is so much better than in the previous year (previous years meaning when the band was smaller and struggling) not when it was the "Pride of the CIAA".

As a former "old head, Brass Thunder/Mellophone Section"-... nod nod Yes, Yes I marched my freshman year in 1991 before hanging up my old uniform and hitting the tracks to Cheer- the only thing I WISH DR. MAGRUDER would reconsidered and bring back are the "Street Steps" and Friday's March around the campus.  Well they really can't march around b/c of the infrastructure of the campus now...But the Band Street Steps such as (Gothem City Step, Who Dat Trynna Be a Ram Step, the Speed Cadence Step, R-A-M-S step, 8-Ball step, and etc...) got us pumped up back then and it drew the students from their dorms onto the campus to spectate....

I wish he would allow the "old heads" of Stone-Funk to come back to teach the newer Stone Funk guys those old cadences...It would really help with those sectional battles against other Universities!

and that is how I "C" it!  Holla!

O'YEA...on more thing...I am still trying to get use to this New Name "Red Sea of Sound"....I am still in that "Pride of the CIAA" moment...It has more power behind the name as opposed to "Red Sea of Sound"...."Red Sea of Sound" is too close to "Texa's Southern Ocean of Sound"  shrug nono2 nod

NCCU FIGHT SONG

We are the mighty Eagles

Our Majesty will soar high

There's victory for you and me

When we show our Eagle Pride.

Fight! Fight!

Our mighty campus we have here

Our spirits will reign free

For we are the mighty Eagles

Dear ole NCC!!!!

To all NCCU fans these are the words to the fight song
If it is not played enough,  then we as alumni should take it
to the director, and state that we would like to hear the fight song
played more often!!! Not only for touchdowns, but for boosting
the fans in the stands!!!  I am sure Mr. Reid will grant that!!

As far as how does the words get to the masses in the stadium?
With a new scoreboard, can't the words be posted on there?
