I can't even imagine a visiting college band playing to the visitor's side, unless there are national TV cameras on the visitor's side filming the band. When NSU visits another stadium, we always face the home crowd. It's just the way it's done, IMHO. Your crowd already knows what your band can do and what it's bringing.
If you try that siht @ Price Stadium, you WILL get straight up BOOed! nono2

Like Central care about you guys booing. Roll Eyes  Those horns are much louder anyway.  If that visitors side is full of Eagles, watch and see what  Reid does.  You should know by now that Central doesn't worry  about what others think about them.  We are not common, nor ordinary.

And that's what happened at Aggie Stadium. They got loudly booed from the home side.

NCCU always get booed by the Aggies, nothing New here.  That is just the rude nature of an "Aggie" Dog, whenever they see "Eagles" doing our thing. They booed us last year, in Charlotte, as well. They do it every year, so don't blame it on The NCCU MSM playing to our fans, only.

Take care!

I didn't hear the booing from the aggies.  I guess the Sound Machine was throwing down so hard, we drowned out the aggies booing.  Like Bro. stated, the aggies boo us every year.

Great show Sound Machine.  clap

3.  Roll Eyes NCCU swears they are on some level...I tell ya

4. No every college in the south DOES not do that. This only happens in classics ie. John Merrit and Southern Heritage. NCCU has long done this crap, and they are pretty much the only band i know that does this in a regular game.

When it comes to Shaw and NCCU...yes the school is on another level....across the board. Please deny it.

and i know i said "has done"....stop reaching. AND you of all people should know you have seen band after band twirl fire. hell, eagle essence did it my crab-err...freshman year.

NOW ONCE AGAIN

if you have a problem with it, its jreid@nccu.edu. please email him. Just make sure your reason does not start with "IM USED TO..."  OH...and do make sure, you are watching the 2011 "Tournament of Roses" Parade so that you can complain about something we do out there. Preciate it.

Ok I was trying to stay out of this but............what does SHAW have to do with this? Can this topic be closed PLEASE???  And if you do want to talk about the same level 1775....what level is that? What has NCCU done that Shaw hasn't? Go to Honda a couple years in a row? And if you wanna get real...those years are coming to a END when you enter the MEAC. I have nothing but respect for the Sound Machine and think they sounded pretty good yesterday. I've always enjoyed the risk of being different. But you took it somewhere you didn't have to when you called out my BELOVED Platinum Sound. Even though my career is over, I'm still a major supporter.  I've seen the Shaw band rise from the dirt to one of the best bands in the CIAA. Shaw always seems to always turn nothing into something. You wanna talk about NCCU not being able to use the field only twice a week....at least NCCU has a field. Shaw uses a 40 yard if that field to practice on behind the dorms. I know Cally can back me up on that part. So what do you mean by getting to NCCU's level? I'm done.  tiptoe I REPEAT CLOSE THIS TOPIC !!!

Well  there is no written rule that the away band had to preform to the home crowd. hell it`s crazy that people think you have to. Morehouse never plays to the home side when they travel. We play to the Morehouse side of the field. That`s where our money comes from and that`s who we play for. We could careless about the people on the other side.
I remember we went to Alcorn on their highschool day we had maybe 400 people on our side and the home side was on the filled. Which side did we play too the Morehouse side. They asked me in the pressbox why. I looked at them and told them the money was on that side. And it was. Hell, the lady who made it possible for M-N-M to have their uniforms and capes  for the first few years they were a part of the band was over there. So, The money was over there.

Lonewolf, you dropped the bomb on this topic. clap  Playing to the visitor's side is not new to the Sound Machine.  I guess the Sound Machine hurt a lot of feelings that night. lol  Great job Sound Machine.

That is fine and well Lonewolf but again your fans have likely seen the band several times throughout the season. Ask any band member who they would rather play to and 100% of the time they will tell you it is the fans who have not seen them. Even I as I travel do not want Shaw to play to me again. I want then to go across the field and wow some folk who have never seen them. They don't have to impress me because I'm already sold. Now here is the real truth bomb. Why in the heck would a band practice hard all week,  spend money to travel, only to get somewhere and perform to their own fans?  Come on now, if they did that, they could have stayed home, ya think?
What is the main reason bands travel? You would think it is to support the team, right? Bands want to showcase their talents in front of another crowd, and in the process upstage the other band in attendance. Supporting the team is secondary.

hey, thats all well and good; and I know visiting bands like to try and showout on the home band - sometimes they do, sometimes they don't - depends on the band.

I always like to see a visiting band peform to the homeside of the field mainly for the reasons you stated, Cap.

However, I'm not at all offended if they don't; of course, it isn't an issue AT B.T. Harvey Stadium as there is just ONE SIDE anyway.  Roll Eyes

The band IS at the game to support the team DURING the game;  And halftime of course, is the band's opportunity to DO THEIR THANG!

not a big deal to me either way

Actually, when I said that we are on another level, I was talking about the school as a whole, because -simply put- we are. The reason SHAW was called out is because you went out of your way to BM&C about a band that you have nothing to do with. But since you asked,

-we have been to Honda BOTB 5 times(which really isnt an accomplishment, but you all act like Honda is the top of the mountain for band)

-we have been under review by the Tournament Of Roses Selection Committee for a few years now, and were asked to submit a request to participate(which was approved)

-we have played for President Obama(and done the Cupid Shuffle with him lol)

-we were "outsourced" to take the place of FSU marching band

-we have been featured on MTV

-we have played for Sen. John Edwards when he announced his bid for the U.S. presidency

-oh and back to Honda...Reid was the reason a few of your bands got an invitation. You should thank him, especially those of you who had directors CRYING because their band wasnt selected  Roll Eyes
