Carrying out a time-honored tradition among ex-cons on their first day of freedom, Michael Vick reportedly spent his first evening as a free man knee-deep in strippers, alongside pal Allen Iverson.

The report comes from The Big Lead, who called the strip club and spoke to a DJ at a spot called Atlantis in Virginia Beach. From TBL:

After getting a tip from a reader Wednesday, and seeing this post at YBF saying the same thing, we called the club half a dozen times until we were able to get someone on the phone tonight around 10:15 pm. “Monday’s are crazy here, it’s amateur night, and it’s packed,” said the DJ, who did not to be quoted. He checked with a few of the dancers about whether or not Vick and Iverson were present Monday and said, “yup, both of them were here. It’s the first place I’d want to go as a free man, too.”

If true, this isn't something to be held against Vick. I know it doesn't sound good, and I'll grant you, other than an actual dogfight, a strip club's probably the easiest place for a recently-released guy to get in trouble.

But on the other hand, you know ... there are unclothed women in there. In the pen, it's nothing but the fellas. The day that a man who was locked up for two years cannot go out and pay to see some lady parts is the day I no longer want to call myself an American.

Going to a strip club is not illegal. It doesn't make anyone a bad person. Most people are not Pacman Jones, and can go to a strip club without having to seek legal counsel the next morning.

Most importantly, going to a strip club has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not Michael Vick(notes) is truly remorseful about what he did. If Roger Goodell were to hold this against him, in my opinion, it would make Goodell not only unreasonable and unnecessarily hard on Vick, but also in violation of all sorts of man codes

Your kidding right!? It's a character issue. It's an image issue. It's a sign of whether or not he has the ability and discipline to govern himself. IMO it's poor judgement. It's not about legal or illegal. The average ex-con isn't a world famous superstar celebrity. The average ex-con isn't trying to regain employment in an industry where the MINIMUM wage is more than a veteran cop, fireman, or school teacher can make in 5 years.

If he is that desperate, he can hook up with one of the millions of 'golddiggin' jumpoffs that I know he knows, and reaquant himself with the female of our species in a setting that doesn't draw public attention.

Black Spartan nailed it folks.  It's not about the legality of frequenting a strip club.  He's gotta look out for himself and if his masterplan includes a return to the NFL, he's gotta be a bit smarter than this.

Wait a minute. I know the Atlantis. That dive across the street from the Oceana Naval Air Station. I know he had to be disappointed compared to the clubs in Atlanta... I guess if its good enough for the pilots who can fly $50M F/A 18 Carrier-based Superhornets.... shrug

At first I thought what's the big deal but after reading BP's response I agree with him. Vick is on the road to redemtion and is still held accountable in the court of public opinion plus the Goodel decision.....Hope he had fun though  Wink

But he is who he is and it doesnt take long for the true colors to show.  Obviously he's still the smartest person in his circle of friends and nobody is telling him .. "lets not go there, lets not do that".. everybody is smiling and agreeing with everything thats suggested !  shrug

granted, Vick should be careful about some of his decisions while he awaits word on if he will or will not get back in to the NFL.

at the same time, dude went to a strip club after he just got off of house arrest. I don't see what the big story is, but I understand what you guys are saying.

I guess while we want something from others, we must be willing to play the game, toe the line, put up appearances, considering all of his past troubles.

I just wonder when enough will be enough and folks no longer expect him to perform, other than in practice and on the football field.

Michael Vick lawyer denies strip club reports
(AP) – 40 minutes ago

RICHMOND, Va. — A lawyer for Michael Vick says the quarterback did not spend his first night of freedom at a Virginia Beach strip club.

Attorney Larry Woodward says Thursday that Vick was not in Virginia Beach on Monday night and has not been to any strip club.

Woodward says reports of such activity are "absolutely, categorically false."

Vick was released from federal custody Monday after a 23-month sentence for a dogfighting conspiracy.

The blog thebiglead.com quoted a DJ, who refused to be identified, who said Vick was at the strip club with NBA free agent Allen Iverson. Leon Rose, Iverson's agent, said Iverson hasn't seen Vick since his release.

Vick is expected to meet soon with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in hopes of getting his league suspension lifted.
