...that what they call "socialistic policies" will once again rescue capitalism from its excesses.

Wells Fargo Bank, the first large recipient of "bail-out" funds announced a big profit today.

They are scared to death that Obama's policies will be successful and will demonstrate how bankrupt (literally) their neo-con, Bushite policies and active opposition to reasonable regulation were/are.

Housing refinances are up...and big.  It looks like the housing decline is slowing.

Conservatives are hoping that Obama's policies will fail even if it means that millions more will be out of work and the small businesses they claim to support close their doors by the thousands.

The markets seems to have responded quite well - Thank You - to President Obama's European trip.

People like Hannity, Rove and Beck are losing their daggone minds spouting such nonsense as "most divisive President", "Fascist revolution", "communist," etc.

Refinancing a mortgage is NOT a new mortgage on a house for sale.  That has little impact on the glut of houses for sale.

^^^I don't know MAGs.

Higher refinancing rates because of LOWER interest rates means two things; credit is available and people are confident.

BOTH with eventually result in increased new and existing home sales.

Like I said in another thread and the Scholar says here;

Looks like the Presidents policies are working BIG TIME... and quicker than many people thought they could or would. nod

What Conservatives really fear is that the Democrats and President Obama will put the nation back on the right track and that they will loose their slice of the pie or should I say half of the pie (since they benifitted most from the Republican misguided policies).

True but it lowers people's payment and also would help jump start workers who have either quit or have little money right now

What you say is literally true, but - altho I don't recall the specifics - there was also an increase in "pending house sales" or something like that as well.   It will definitely take some time to reduce the "inventory" of houses on the market.

Cholly's point is well made since one of the major issues was/is the lack of lending, so refinancing would indicate some progress there.  Lower payments mean folks have addtional money to spend elsewhere or reduce their debt.

Needless to say, the economy and the housing market itself are not even close to being out of the woods.  However, there are a few hopeful signs.

Most of us are happy to see them.  My initial point was/is that some conservatives are not happy to see progress.  Thankfully, they are a distinct detrimental and diminishing minority.

^^^EXACTLY!!!

They have a VESTED interest in the Obama Administration and the Democratic party controled congress' FAILURE in their attempts to reverse the damage done by gop rule.

Their approach from the beginning... party of NO... has depended on Democratic rescue efforts being unsuccessful.

Now that things are starting to look up, the gops are going to be in SERIOUS trouble.  thefan

I pray the extreme right takes over the GOP. The party will have to slit and thus destroy it as we know it.

Time for me to study up on the Whigs.

What conservatives REALLY fear is...

...that Obama will be a firm and resolute CinC.        ...that Obama will be a firm and resolute CinC.      ...that Obama will be a firm and resolute CinC.    ...that Obama will be a firm and resolute CinC.    ...that Obama will be a firm and resolute CinC.     ...that Obama will be a firm and resolute CinC.
His posture in Afghanistan (series of drone attacks, etc.) and with the Somali pirates is an indication that he is and will be.
