Quote
When I was college age, I applied to go to Morehouse but the school refused to give me work-study or fi- nancial aid, so I ended up graduating from Georgia State. In those days, the Atlanta University Center was the center of the civil rights movement and political protest in the South.

Now, it's hard to tell a Morehouse man from a Morehouse woman. Gays and transvestites are welcome at HBCUs, but the schools shun militants, revolutionaries and community activists.

.........................and here we go again with the gay isht. Roll Eyes

Why is it that everybody who has hate for Morehouse for one reason or another, has to always take a swipe at the sexual orientation of the students? Look dude, just because you got rejected, doesn't mean you have to try to diminish Morehouse on your way to GSU.  Roll Eyes

The above quote has absolutely NO PLACE in that article. It was just "thrown in" for good measure. offtopic

I am in agreement with Ivan.  There is no reason for that comment.  IMO, it added nothing to the article.

So the author thinks HBCU's are a den of fools?  Obviously they were all smart enough not to enroll that joker....Maybe he should have read Carter G. Woodson's "The Mis-Education of the Negro" and gained a bit of perspective, knowledge and wisdom.

Speaking of said literary work, I kept this framed quote either on my desk or on my office wall at all times from his book.

Quote
"When you control a man's thinking you do not have to worry about his actions. You do not have to tell him not to stand here or go yonder. He will find his 'proper place' and will stay in it. You do not need to send him to the back door. He will go without being told. In fact, if there is no back door, he will cut one for his special benefit. His education makes it necessary."

You know I've lived a while and have been around the block several times. People's remarks are very telling. All you have to do is listen.  Most racist have race envy. The biggest racist during slavery all slipped into the hen house at night. Homophobes have sexual envy. I know this from college because I was Mr. RA on campus and was in the middle of everybody's business. (One thing I did not do was spread people's business so folks talked to me.) And this also serves as good advice to a women, trying to check out a male. If your potential mate is a little too homophobic, you need to run like hell from him. Homophobic people  almost always want to have sex with the same sex. If they are not doing it now, they will eventually.  I don't know why, but it always work that way. So called  Down Low guys hate gay people but they have girlfriends and sleep with men but they don't identify themselves as being gay or even bisexual.  shrug

What exactly did the guy say that was not true?  At some point over the years most of what he said has been posted or stated right here.

1. Getting money out of an HBCU (He wants to personally benefit which is immorally wrong in this case)
2. Rampant cronyism (depends on the school but well run schools don't have this problem)
Giving is reciprocal (actually this is against most schools policies. I am not saying that this does not happen but it is highly unethical)

He seems to be making a one-sided argument that only benefits him.
