I agree with Fuckmaster. I think BHO is the best hope for this country at this time. The drill, drill, drill is BS. We consume 25% of the worlds oil, but have only 3% of the oil resources. So if we drilled and hit oil on every spot we would still have a deficiet of 22%. Iran is already switching all of their cars to natural gas, so they can sell their oil at a greater profit. Our military is depleted. We are too concerned about class, race and gender and issues be damned. Thus a more homogenous society like China is likely to be the next world power and we as Americans will be relagated to carrying their baggage in our hotels in America(which will be foreign owned) when they visit us on vacation. The US is slowing becoming another Australia.

The situation with Tavis, much like that with Jesse Jackson is at its core a case of sour grapes. They harbor a degree of animous towards Obama for his supplanting them as relevant figures in the minds of black folks. Tavis is "playa hatin" on Obama because he denied him the role of "king-maker" by not announcing his run for president at his "leading blacks" gabfest and later for not heeding his summons for Obama to appear at his New Orleans gabfest. Tavis, much like Jesse cannot seem to grasp that Obama's platform, out of necessity has transcended merely providing talking points about perceived slights to blacks. It is as if Tavis wanted Obama to present himself as black America's candidate for president, but Obama saw his role as the candidate of all Americans. Now without his bully pulpit on the Tom Joyner Show, Tavis is struggling to remain relevant. When he was on Tom Joyner, he could rally his minions into action against perceived slights, such as in the case of Comp USA and John Deere. Now that he is no longer on the TJMS, he no longer has a platform to rally his last remaining drones, (like Old Splot). How ironic was it that during either of the political conventions over the past 2 weeks, no one sought out Tavis for his opinion of the events. There was a time when he was one of the first persons the networks would seek out for the "black viewpoint". Though he is aired on PBS, it is highly doubtful that they would condone his using that exposure to air his "woe is us" victimized rants. He is simply a player hater that "got out of pocket" and is now finding himself on the outside looking in.

When Obama made his announcement, it was Charles Ogletree who said that Obama should have made it at the SOTBU in Virginia.  I do not know who else agreed with him that day.

Ogletree taught Mr. and Mrs. Obama at Harvard and has been an Obama supporter.

We should always hold all political leaders and public officals accountable for their actions.. I believe we as people must put pressure on both political parties and  focus on economic empowerment as well..

Personally, I don't have nor have had, a problem with what Tavis is saying about Obama. I think that we should hold all candidates accountable. With that being said, my vote for Obama in November is not because he's Black, but because I feel he's the best candidate.

NO ONE should vote for Obama just because he's Black.

Wholeheartedly agree!!  But no one should vote for McCain just because he has a woman on the ticket either.  Everyone is excited about superficial matters and don't seem to be checking out what these folks are about.   For the first time in my life I have to consider the second half of the ticket because the VP candidates are a stroke/bullet away from being president.  I hate to be cynical but its true.
