WSSU...fans\Meac fans...what do you think about the new photos on the website?

"How do you explain the fourth and ninth pic ""2007 Educational Institution of the Year National Black MBA Association"" with the white girl being the focal point of the pic and three of the five students in the photo being white?

I am going to have to agree with Get*up*RAMS and everyone else here, overkill.  We should not miss out on the opportunity to showcase Americans south of the boarder, Asian (including Indians, Middle Easterners, and Pacific Islanders), and Native students on our campuses in our marketing."

I spoke to him last night, ans even he said that the Chancellor wants diversity pictures on the website.  Not to mention, its not like he has free reign over what he puts on the website.  T"

"I am a proud alum of WSSU and these pictures are a bunch of bull.  I visited the website on Saturday and the first thing my fiance said when she saw the picks is why were there so many white faces on an HBCU page. (She is a graduate of a PWC).  I understand diversity but this is ridiculous.  I think over 85 percent of the WSSU student body is African American but the pictures do not reflect that.  This is just another example of us going out of our way to please people who really do not care about us.  When will we wake up.  On a good note, this is motivating to donate more back to the school so they will respect my opinion when I say I am not happy with all the white faces on our website."

Also note, and someone correct me if I am wrong, that during the mid 90s UNC schools were mandated and given resourses to boost campus minority enrollments.  HBCUs target goal is at least 15% non Black enrollmennt while PWU is 10% non white.  Fayetteville State is conisered the systems‘ model of diversity."

"If WSSU is 13% white and the goal is to one day be 30% white, though misleading, is might be acceptable to put 30% whites in your photos. If you go above that 30% goal, then it suggests WSSU has an internal problem  with the person in charge of diversity issues. "Gr8ness97, thanks for the correction.  I was off by 2 percent with the percentage of African Americans, but right on point with everything else I said.  As Black people, we are always trying to make others feel comfortable in our schools etc., but we do not get the same treatment.  These pictures are our attempt not to like an HBCU.  You can call it what you want.  In picture four you see two black heads from the back and one white face.  This is embarrassing.  We all fuss on these forum about sports but this is really an issue worth discussing.  Why do we as black people always have to make non-blacks feel comfortable with us."

I see that WSSU is not #1...it is like #21(on the Top Southern Colleges) ....So am I on the right page...or is this a misprint.
