"VG, the 720p will continue to drop as we approach 2009. those are nice for an extra tv. The 1080p will drop as well but companies like Samsung and Sony are putting a lot more bang into those high end models to keep the prices up. Go to hhgregg and look at"

"Those Sharp Aquos TV‘s are very good quality too..if you did get the Sharp you still would have gotten a great TV

According to Consumer reports the best quality television depends on the size of the TV too... Samsung is tops with regard to ""46 Televisions, but not as great with regard to the 32"" TV‘s.  Sharp is tops with regard to the 37"" TV‘s, and Sony Bravia is tops with the ""40 TV‘s with Samsung a close second.

My sister has a 37"" Sharp Aquos 720p television.  That thing is FANTASTIC and more than enough for my tastes.

I‘m not a technology freak, so the 720p will suffice for me.  I would love to have a 1080p, but the 720p is a great TV.

Probably by the end of 2009 they will have come up with something even better than the 1080..."

"It‘s funny, i hear people in the store crying all the time because they bought several years ago and now are upgrading. I guess with technology, you live for the moment and enjoy today. The days are buying something and keeping it for 10 to 15 years are long over. The local news had an old tv repair guy on the other night. He basically said that few electronic items, including computers, are worth getting fixed after they get a year old.    Sad    Unless of course you paid all that extra money for the Sears/Best Buy Service plans.       Girl at Best Buy tried to put the sell on me by saying, you know this is a complex electronic device......    no   I was like, hell they were saying that about the VCR back in the day too and they never break."

The worst technology ever invented had to be the 8 track tape player. Those tings would eat a tape in a minute. My mother was forever fishing a hung tape out if the unit and taping it back to together so it  could be played. That would get you a little bit more life.

With most people, but not really with me...

I have the same television that I had when I was in graduate school 10 years ago.  Don‘t have any problems with it...just wish it was bigger that‘s all.

Actually, my very first TV is still at my mother‘s house....I got it Christmas ‘88.

I have always been a bandwagonner.  But, there‘s a time to save it up and a time to spend it all...

I‘m gonna take the plunge on this TV and this iPod pretty soon........"

"Me too, my old 27"" Panasonic is about 13 years old. It is slow to come at times but it still works. I just hope it holds out till next year. I will replace it with a 720p one day."

"Cholly,

To me it becomes an economic issue.I have alot of VHS tapes and alot of DVD‘s.I‘m not buying another system for some of the same movies.I‘ll just download and view when needed.Delete those I care little about and save those that have my interest.

Let me use Stevie Wonder‘s ""Song‘s in the Key of Life"" as an example. I have it in vinyl, cassette,CD and on the iPod.Something has to give."

"I feel ya Beef.

I have over 3000 LPs... eventually they will be shifted over to CD, eventually.  shrug

We are being ganked though.

Have you tried to open ANY files on Vista yet?

And guess what? SOME of the software is YEARS away from being upgraded to make it Vista compatable!

I got brand new Print Shop Publishing Suite... not 6 months old... that cannot be used with Vista. Broderbund says the new patch won‘t be up until early next year... I need to buy a new copy when it is available in 3-4 months!  "

You have to look at where technology is headed. In the future everything will done from your home. We are seeing it with shopping over the internet. They ship it to your house or you go pick it up at a location.

Look what has happened to music
