Blu Ray is almost the winner.  Most of the major studios perfer Blu Ray and the last studio remaining will get out of their HD DVD contract in April or May.

I have Blu Ray on my Playstation 3 and the standalone players are becoming cheaper by the second.  Word is some HD DVD companies (Microsoft) have Blu Ray in the works because they sense that Blu Ray may win.

Just my opinion....

Blu-Ray has 70% of the Studios and 80% (and climbing) of the content.

HD-DVD will be gone by end of the year.

Fear not though... HD-DVD players will STILL be able to play conventional DVDs which should be around for at least another 5 years.   shrug

"Read the tea leaves Cats. DVD‘s are going the way of  the music CD. In 5 years both will be on life support.

Also HDTVs may have  bottomed out price wise. What you see now is more features being added to the higher models and cheaper versions with less coming to market. I see people who bought HDTVs 3 years ago and paid $5,000, upgrading and only paying $1800 for so much more. Has anyone seem the 120 hz versions in stores? OMG, the picture is so much sharper. That 120 hz Samsung and Sony are very very nice, you will pay for them but they are sweet. Funny, stores are placing them next to the lesser versions so potential customers can see the difference and end up buying more tv than what they came in to get."

"         lol

HDTV Plasma TV‘s were all the rage, now it‘s all about the HDTV LCD TV‘s.

Cap, you‘re right about the HDTV.  The stores will put a Vizio next to a Sharp Aquos or an Olevia right next to a Sony/ Bravia or an Em"

Nah.... not as long as you STILL have a DVD player.

The DVDs themselves will last for 100 years as long as you keep them out of high temps, UV light, and direct sunlight.

Think you‘ll still be worrying about your Spike Lee collection in 100 years MAGs?"
